I came across an artist online who was stain-painting beautiful wood pieces. I decided to try her technique on a chair I had and it sold very quickly. Then, I created and sold another stain-painting on a stool, followed by a request to do a dining table. So, I plan to continue this style of refinishing. Please let me know if you have any suggestions, requests or feedback. Thanks!
THE STAINED LILY – SOLD
$50
Dimensions: 38" tall, 17.75" seat-to-floor, 16" wide,
This chair is made of metal with a solid oak seat. The lily image was painted on the seat using a dark stain applied with my finger tip, rather than a brush, to allow for a soft blending application. I chose stain rather than paint in order to allow the beautiful natural wood grain to show through.

THE 1890s MISSION STOOL - SOLD
$100
Dimensions: 29.5" tall, 10.5" seat/top
I found this cool stool on Craigslist. The owner was an antique collector who was moving and forced to sell a great deal of her collection. Mission-style furniture originated in the late 19th Century. It's a design that emphasizes simple horizontal and vertical lines which accentuate the grain of the wood. To the best of my knowledge and research, this stool is made of quartersawn oak. This type of cut oak produces a decorative effect which is likely to produce a ribbon figure, which is prominent in the seat. I chose a design that I felt would highlight the beautiful pattern and texture of the wood.

THE SUNFLOWERS DINING TABLE - SOLD
$200
I spent a few days in my friend Holly's garage refinishing and stain-painting her dining table while she vacationed in Florida. She knew she wanted sunflowers and left the rest up to me. I created a design that would work with one leaf in the table (her daily set-up), and would also work when she added a second leaf for entertaining.
